Profound alternatives, checked against each vendor's own pages

What are the best Profound alternatives?

The main Profound alternatives are Peec AI and Otterly.AI for self-serve prompt tracking, Ahrefs Brand Radar for a ready-made prompt index, AthenaHQ for wide engine coverage, and Scrunch or Goodie for bundled crawler and agent tools. Profound now sells only a free trial and custom Enterprise plans, so price is the usual reason to look.

Each bracketed link goes to the page a claim came from. Growth Radar is one of the tools listed, and this page says where it's weaker.

Why do buyers look for a Profound alternative?

  • Self-serve is gone. The pricing page now offers a free 7-day trial on 50 fixed prompts and custom Enterprise plans; the $99 Starter and $399 Growth plans it listed in September 2026 are no longer there.[tryprofound.com][web.archive.org]
  • The API, MCP server, exports, full history and Shopping data are Enterprise-only.[tryprofound.com]
  • Each prompt runs once per model, region, persona and day, and editing your configuration changes past numbers: Profound's docs say an older configuration cannot be viewed.[docs.tryprofound.com]
  • G2 reviewers mention price ("the pricing feels a bit high") and a "significant learning curve".[web.archive.org]

Where Profound is better

Before you switch, weigh what you'd give up.

  • Prompt Volumes estimates real prompt demand from licensed, double-opt-in consumer panels. Peec AI's prompt volume, by contrast, is a relative 1 to 5 score.[tryprofound.com][peec.ai]
  • Agent Analytics reads server and CDN logs instead of JavaScript, with connectors for AWS, Akamai, Cloudflare, Fastly, Vercel and others, and verifies AI crawlers by reverse DNS.[tryprofound.com][docs.tryprofound.com]
  • ChatGPT Shopping tracking reports how often category questions trigger the shopping view, which merchants hold the checkout, and SKU-level citations.[tryprofound.com]
  • Agents draft content and publish through CMS nodes for Contentful, Webflow, Framer, AEM and WordPress, with an approval step before anything goes live.[tryprofound.com]

What to check before you choose

  • Profound's own pages list two different sets of nine engines: the pricing page includes Exa Search, the Answer Engine Insights page names Grok instead.[tryprofound.com][tryprofound.com]
  • Shipped work shows up as chart annotations and task markers. The docs checked describe no worked-or-not verdict for a single action.[docs.tryprofound.com]

Where Growth Radar fits, and where it doesn't

What it does

  • Grades each shipped change against the baseline frozen when it shipped: a move of 10% or more on its target metric 28 days after merge is a win or a loss, anything smaller is flat.
  • Opens each fix as a pull request on your repository, limited to an allowlist of paths. It can't merge.
  • Reads Search Console, Bing and analytics data next to AI citations, so a fix is ranked by the traffic it could move.
  • Publishes every graded change on its own sites at /wins, losses and inconclusive results included.

Its limits

  • AI engine coverage is narrow: Perplexity, ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, checked daily.
  • No prompt-volume estimates, sentiment scores, shopping tracking or brand fact-checking.
  • It doesn't write articles or publish to a CMS. Fixes arrive as code changes.
  • Built and run by one person; AI reports need the Pro or Agency plan after the free trial.

Questions about Profound alternatives

Does Profound still have a self-serve plan?

No. As of October 2026 the pricing page lists a free 7-day trial on 50 fixed prompts and custom Enterprise plans. The $99 Starter and $399 Growth plans shown on the same page in September 2026 have been removed.

Which Profound alternative is cheapest with an API?

Among the paid tools here, Otterly.AI's Standard plan at $189 a month includes both an API and an MCP server, per its pricing page. Peec AI lists its REST API under Enterprise. Growth Radar has an MCP server on every plan, Free included, but covers far fewer AI engines.

Which Profound alternative tells you whether a change worked?

Peec AI's Impact view compares before and after, but its product page says it does not attribute a change to an individual action. Profound shows shipped work as chart annotations. Growth Radar grades each shipped change win, loss or flat 28 days after merge.

How were these Profound alternatives checked?

Every claim on this page links to the vendor page it came from, checked October 28, 2026. Nothing comes from a trial account or a sales call. Where our evidence doesn't cover a cell, the table says so instead of guessing.
