Google AI features, tracked
A Google AI Overviews tracker built on Search Console
Growth Radar tracks Google AI Overviews from Google's own numbers. It reads Search Console's report on generative AI features, which counts how often your pages were shown in them, and keeps it apart from ordinary search totals. So you can see how much of your visibility comes from AI answers.
What it measures, and how
Two readings from Google, and the ordinary search data they sit next to.
- Search Console AI features
- Search Console has a separate report for Google's generative AI features. It gives impressions only, with no clicks, no queries and no API. Growth Radar reads it from the Search Console screen and keeps it beside the ordinary search totals, never inside them.
- Gemini probe
- Questions a site should answer go to Gemini, and the sites each answer cites are recorded.
- Search Console queries and pages
- Clicks, impressions, click-through rate and position per query and page, so a page that gains AI-feature impressions can be read against its normal search traffic. Search Console trails real time by two to three days.
Why Search Console instead of a scraped result page
A rank tracker loads a results page for each keyword on a list and checks whether an AI Overview appears and names you. That covers the keywords you thought of, from one location, at one moment.
Search Console counts impressions from real searches across every query your pages appeared for. The trade is that Google gives impressions only. Growth Radar shows both sides of that trade rather than inventing the missing clicks.
What it can't see
- Impressions only: Google's AI-features report has no clicks, no queries and no API. Growth Radar reads it from the Search Console screen once a day.
- Clicks from AI features are counted inside Google's ordinary web search totals, so they can't be split out.
- The Gemini probe isn't the AI Overview itself. It's the closest answer we can ask for on demand.
- Bing's AI citation report and Search Console's AI-features report are AI reports: they come with Pro and Agency, and with the 14-day free trial. Free keeps 1 site and no AI reports.

Common questions
Can I see AI Overviews data in Google Search Console?
Search Console has a separate report for Google's generative AI features with impressions per page. It has no clicks, no queries and no export API. Growth Radar reads it from the screen and keeps it beside the normal search totals.
Does Search Console show clicks from AI Overviews?
Not separately. Google counts clicks from its AI features inside the ordinary web search totals, so you can't isolate them. The AI-features report gives impressions only.
Is an AI Overviews impression the same as a citation?
No. An impression means a page was shown in an AI feature. It doesn't say whether the page was read or named in the text. Treat it as a ceiling on how often you could have been cited there.
How do I get my pages into Google AI Overviews?
Google says no special markup is needed beyond being indexed and eligible for a snippet. In practice, check that Googlebot can fetch the page, that a passage of 40 to 150 words answers the question on its own, and then measure whether AI-feature impressions move after the change ships.
